Habit tracker ideas: 40 daily habits that fit in a box
Short answer
A good habit tracker idea is something you can answer yes or no to every evening, like "Read 10 pages", "Make the bed" or "No phone in bed". Below are 40 of them, grouped by area. Pick three to five that matter to you this month rather than copying the whole list.
What makes a habit trackable
Before the list, a quick test for any habit you add. It should be:
- Yes or no. You either did it today or you didn't.
- Daily-sized. Something you can do on a bad day, not only a good one.
- Short. A grid row has room for a few words. On the Streaksheet grid, names longer than about 30 characters are cut off with … when printed, so every idea here is shorter than that.

Picking your first few
Read the list and mark anything you'd be glad to see filled in on the 30th. Then cut that down to a handful, ideally from different areas, so one bad day doesn't empty every row at once. If you have room for one more, consider a habit you already do most days, so the grid isn't all empty boxes in week one.
At the end of the month, the totals tell you which ones to keep. The how-to guide covers that review.
Put your list on a printed grid
Type your picks into the Streaksheet builder, choose the month, and preview a landscape grid with your habits on the rows and that month's dates across the top. The same pack includes a morning and evening routine checklist and a month review sheet. Up to 12 habits.
Building and previewing are free. Printing is $7 for 31 days or $5 a month.
Try your habits in the builder →Questions
How many habits should I track at once?
There's no right number. Start with a few, and add more once those are steady. The Streaksheet grid takes up to 12.
How do I track a habit I want to stop?
Word it as the thing you did instead: "No phone in bed" or "No takeout". A filled box then means you held the line that day.
What about habits I only do a few days a week?
Keep them on the daily grid and judge them by the month's total. "Piano practice 3 times a week" becomes about 12 or 13 filled boxes in a month.
Can I change habits halfway through the month?
On paper, yes: cross out the row and write the new one. In the Streaksheet builder you can edit the list any time, and the new version prints while your printing is unlocked.
